Description

1985 Chevrolet Military 1 ¼ ton dually pickup. It is very rare-model M1028A3. These trucks were converted from the standard military trucks with a kit from Chevrolet that made them a dually. This particular one did not have the dually hubs installed for some reason and needs them installed to be correct.

There were less than 300 military conversions done making these very hard to find. It has a 6.2 Detroit Diesel engine with a Turbo 400 transmission and a NP208 transfer case. It has the Dana 60 front axle with a Dana 70HD rear with 4:56 gears and a Detroit Locker. This truck came from Warner Robbins AFB in Georgia.

The truck has the power pack from a 1985 1 ton military M1008 pickup that had 35,000 miles on it and it runs great! These trucks came with the standard bench seat but I started to install buckets from the ambulance version of this truck.

All these trucks came with maroon interior, but I prefer black and started the conversion. I have black seatbelts included along with the newer style steering wheel. Also installed is a black center console from a civilian blazer.

The truck is very rust free and is painted with Gillespie “383” Green, brown, and flat black (available from Rapcoparts.com) in the military paint scheme. This paint is even available in aerosol, so it is very easy to touch up inexpensively.

The radiator had a small leak so it was replaced with a takeout from another truck. Since pictures we have had alignment and new front tires.

The truck does need some minor finishing touches. If I were keeping it I would add:

Dually front hubs/rims

The interior could use parts and paint-dash pad, seat covers, etc.

The tailgate came from a parts truck, it could use sandblasting and the

handle taken apart and connected

These trucks restored sell very high. When they do sell they usually go between 7-10K. Look at Alphaheaven.com for the one they are selling at $15,000 just to give an example. This truck is an easy restoration and will bring top dollar when done.
